The story behind the print
This image was taken at the beginning of my career, before I moved to Mexico, back when I was focusing more on underwater portraits and maternity photography. To launch my photography business, I ran a competition on Instagram in 2016 and this woman was the winner. When she came to Sydney, we played around with some underwater shots, and she really wanted to try doing some nude underwater portraits. It was a stormy day at Gordon’s Bay. She braved it, and I kept her calm while we experimented underwater. It ended up being one of the most amazing creative sessions for both of us. We created these really captivating images, and the beauty of it was that while it was moody and stormy above water, underwater we had this calm, vivid and textured canvas to play with.
